On February 6th, 2016 the 10th Annual Virginia Heart and Vascular Institute Symposium was a great success! The number of attendees was the highest ever at 145 and FIVE of CAF’s physicians were speakers. Dr. Rana spoke about Peripheral Vascular Intervention, while Dr. Kauffman addressed Cardio-Oncology and minimizing heart damage. Dr. Lewis addressed outpatient management of chest pain, Dr. Tayal educated the audience on TAVR and Dr. Talreja touched on Electrophysiology topics regarding bi-ventricular pacing for cardiomyopathy and MRI conditional devices. We look forward to another great year of educating our community!

Dr. Tayal and a local patient talk about TAVR

Bill, a local patient, describes how TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) corrected the heart murmur caused by aortic valve stenosis and gave him a new lease on life. Cardiovascular Surgeon John Cardone, MD, explains how it works, and Cardiology Associates of Fredericksburg’s very own Interventional Cardiologist Rajiv Tayal, MD, tells who qualifies as the best candidates for this procedure.

Congratulations Dr. Gregory Kauffman!

Make Men’s Health Week Count

MHW_15

In light of Men’s Health Week and Father’s Day, we would like to remind all of our brothers, fathers, grandfathers and husbands out there to contact your physician to be screened for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer and other common risk factors. Men make half as many preventative doctor visits as women! Make this week a week that you take the next step toward a healthier you!
